Southeast Asia is one of the centers of biodiversity in the world, and is also a rapidly developing area. For conservation of the environmental conditions and biodiversity in this area, it is important to monitor the level of pollutants continuously using reliable methods. Our “POME (Pollution of Marine Environment) project” has performed researches on marine pollution in Southeast Asia for 10 years under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Core University Program "Coastal Marine Science". In this workshop, active scientists from the five Southeast Asian countries, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam will present the achievements.
