INVITATION

The International Symposium of Oryzias Fish is a meeting for all scientists involved in scientific studies of various biological aspects of medaka, O. latipes, and related species.
Recent elucidation of the genome sequence and genome information of medaka has established the species as an excellent model animal, but also opened a new era for the research of at least 20 different Oryzias species distributed in Asia. The presence of well-defined species groups adapted to various environments is a unique and important advantage of medaka over the other model animals, making it possible to analyze speciation, adaptation, and evolution at the molecular level.
It is our pleasure to organize a meeting concerning the biology of Oryzias species in Bangkok, Thailand, which can be considered as the heart of the Oryzias species geographical distribution circle, to discuss future studies beyond the genome.
We cordially invite you to participate in this meeting to exchange the latest information and ideas, and to start new collaborations in the form of Asian Medaka Association (AMA).
We would also like to welcome scientists working in various fields of ichthyology to further strengthen the collaborations.  We look forward to welcoming you all in Bangkok, Thailand.
